NEW FROM FLAGSTAFF WASTE MANAGEMENT:
Flagstaff Waste is please to announce the launch of a Rigid Plastic Only Recycle initiative. We have developed market arrangements with 2 different plastics processors in southern Alberta and have the capacity to implement this program through re-purposing of existing waste collection bins at our existing recycle depots in each urban community within our collection area. Please note that bright yellow bins will be/have been located at your respective recycle depots.
Household Garbage:
Alliance is part of the Flagstaff Regional Solid Waste Management Authority, based north of Sedgewick. Residential garbage is collected weekly at a contracted rate of $30/month. Residential pickup is early Friday mornings. Rented bins are available for commercial use.
Each household is allowed a maximum of 4 bags of household waste, unless “extra bag tags” are purchased from their local Municipality Office. All refuse must be placed in a bag with a maximum capacity of 100 litres and weigh no more than 20 kg. If the bags are placed in an acceptable refuse container, the container shall not exceed a volume of 100 litres.
The local transfer site is located 1 mile west of the Village. Follow Railroad Avenue out of town to the first intersection. It is open on Saturdays from 1pm to 4: 30pm. There is a fee of $5.00/pickup truck load. Additional fees are charged for household appliances.
Sewage:
Sewer rates are based on metered water usage.
$ 1.90/ cubic meter of water used.
Recycling:
Recycle bins for cardboard and plastic containers are located at the corner of 2nd Avenue and 2nd Street East. Flagstaff Waste Management empties them weekly.
DO NOT PUT MATERIALS IN THE WRONG BINS - THIS WILL END UP BEING IN THE LANDFILL.
Newspaper, clean tin cans, glass, old batteries, oil jugs and paint cans are accepted at the local transfer site. There is no charge to bring in these products for recycling.
A bottle depot operates in the Village on Main Street.
Flagstaff Waste Management has developed an excellent guide that tells how almost anything can be recycled. Click here to see the guide.

Water Supply:
Two wells supply the village through it's upgraded treatment plant. Water is metered.
All residences and businesses are charged $3.10 per cubic meter.
Community Enhancement Fee:
$5.00/month
Community Enhancement Fee helps with the cost of recreation, landscape, maintenance of parks, walking trail, flowers, christmas lights, community activities and incentives.
Infrastructure charge:
Sewer infrastructure is at $25.00/month
Water Infrastructure is at $25.00/month
Infrastructure charge is not solely based on water. Infrastructure is the fundamental facilities and systems serving the Village. It typically characterises technical structures such as roads, bridges, tunnels, water supply, sewers, electrical grids, telecommunications (including Internet connectivity and broadband speeds), and so forth, and can be defined as "the physical components of interrelated systems providing commodities and services essential to enable, sustain, or enhance societal living conditions.
